I remember you telling me you had a GK3/2A on your Variax at one time,
How did you you fit it ?

I was testing my GK3 (Thanks Adrian L) on the VG99 (Wonderful !) with the
soon to gone Tokai with the suplied removable double sided tape, when I
remembered why I had the last GK screwed in.
The GK was starting to lean towards the bridge (maybe the weight of the
cable ?) :-(

Anyway, I *might* sell the variax at some point so I dont really want to
drill it. (learned my lesson with the MSG)
I just wondered how your midi PU was attached ?

Hi Peter, I had it attached with self adhesive pads. I didnt get the
Roland pads, so I bought double sided sitcky pads from Halfords (the
type used to stick on number plates) and cut them to size. It wasnt
a perfect system as the midi p/u could still move a bit. However, it
did work well enough for me to gig with a few times. I had my XT Live
programmed to make the patch changes on the Roland synth so that one
dab of the foot could change it from being a Les Paul/Marshall rock
monster to being a Hammond Organ to being some crazy chinese bells.
It was cool, but unwieldy as the Variax had two cables connected and I
had to do a serious amount of programming of both the XTL and synth to
match the set list.

cheers

Thanks Andrew
Its starting to look like a RR Strat would be preferable for me.
If I thought I was going to keep the Variax, Id just drill it but look
where it got me last time ;-)

Andrew,
When you removed the tape to sell your Variax, did it mark the finish at all
?

not in any permanent way. I then used some sticky stuff remover to
clean off the residual goo and the guitar was as good as new. :-)

cheers
