No point in trying to direct you because its only a brief snippet at the
beginning of a 1979 french TV programme featuring the Cure that I have on
dvd. However, its just *got* to be a popular song of its genre.

Its slide, unaccompanied open tuned guitar (sounds very like Ry Cooders
Paris, texas, but also very different, and mournful.)
No clues there then! Id say its old school, proper blues - definately not
Robert Johnson - good sound quality.

The possible clincher - lyrics I can kind of make out under Antoinne De
Caunes blabbering go *something* like -

Have you seen, my (station??) any day....any day

Can...you see my........ these lyrics are a best guess.

Vocalist sounds familiar, but its NOT a rock based 70s type thing at all,
its yer actual real mccoy.

Christ, this is a long shot.

Please, somebody.

How about I shall be released by Bob Dylan?

Steve.

OK, so blues, acoustic slide, sort of Cooderish, 1979, good sound
quality..........

That rules out the newer solo blues guys like Keb Mo etc.

What about Taj Mahal?

Its the 1979 bit thats curious - there wasnt as much interest in
solo bluesy stuff then as there is now.

We need either more lyrics or a sound file to listen to.

Steve.

Woody Guthrie song.

Have you seen that vigilante man ?
Have you seen tha vigilante man ?
Have you seen that vigilante man ?
Ive been hearin his name all over the land.

Rainy nights down in the engine house,
Sleepin just as still as a mouse,
A man came along and he chased us out in the rain.
Was that a vigilante man ?

Well, I rambled around from town to town,
Now, I rambled around from town to town,
And they herded us around like a wild herd of cattle.
Was that the vigilante man ?

Well, why does a vigilante man ?
Tell me why does a vigilante man ?
Carry that sawed-off shot-gun in his hand ?
Would he shoot his brother and sister down ?

Have you seen that vigilante man ?
Have you seen that vigilante man ?
Have you seen that vigilante man ?
Ive been hearin his name all over the land.

Steve.
