Weighed my Guitars with a general purpose kitchen scale (a really old
vintage model
with nice bounce tray in a traditional spring suspension ...interesting
relic chipped
green & white enamel, heavy metal construction, traditional big custom red
pointer
on a Lb.s only delicately scribed scale to 10 lb.: Not very accurate but
great character.

The interesting results:

Fender 98 USA Deluxe Strat.......... 7.8 lbs
Squire Strat ..5 years old Indonesian.. 6.8 lbs
Strat clone V.old 20 + years. ..... 7.7 lbs
Les Paul old copy/clone unknown make 8.3 lbs
Ibanez Artcore Semi (the smallest one) 6.0 lbs
Jim Reed DC solid (like a PRS)..... 7.1 lbs
Small bodied Electro-Acoustic ..... 4.7 lbs

I did this with my electrics at one point. Digital scale, accurate to
0.2 lbs. The only results I remember distinctly were my custom
Hamburguitar (semi-hollow), which came in at 6.0 lbs, and my Les Paul
Standard Double Cutaway Plus, which was 7.5 lbs.

I have a plywood body Squier that weighs as much as a Les Paul.

Please could you not cross-post to alt.guitar?
Cross-posting is against the charter of this n.g.
Besides, I for one dont want to read the responses from alt.guitar users
when I go to uk.music.guitar.

Thanks,

George

Ditto! I have to flag these as ignore and only dl replys from names I
recognise.

I used to carry a small fishing spring balance to weigh guitars before
buying them. Now I can guess the weight fairly accurately. 7-8lb is the top
weight I accept now, although I already have a 9lb Yamaha and 10lb Hayman
bass, they only get occasional use now because of the weight.
