Any Users?

I have one of these with no manual and no apparent info on the BOSS site.

I am trying to pair it with a Marshall ED 1 compressor pedal and it is very
noisy ( static?)

all help appreciated.

Hi John

If you have it plugged in Guitar --- PW-2 ---ED1 Compressor--- AMP

then the compressor may be amplifying the noise floor of the PW2 the
whole time. Maybe try

Guitar --- ED1 Compressor ---PW-2--- AMP.
Also try new batteries everywhere if you havent already. Try
spraying a little switch cleaner ( Servisol super 10 or an equivalent ) on
all jack plugs and sockets to clean away any corrosion or traces of dirt.
If either pedal has been used a lot the amplification stages might be
showing signs of wear and tear - maybe ics or transistors need replacing.
Lastly, you are using two pedals that add a lot of gain, so any noise
present will naturally be louder, so you might have to get a noise gate and
plug it in the chain just before the amp.
good luck Alex

No need to feel stupid - I expect everyone who owns an active guitar has
been there, because they trail off so gradually. If youre using it for
gigging, its a good idea to buy a voltmeter - which can be had for less
than a fiver now ( e.g.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/module.asp?moduleno0055 ). If you unplug
your battery and test it you should get 9 volts or over. They are about
9.6 volts or so new, and a lot of active circuits start to have problems
once you get below 8 volts - so best to replace the battery if it is below,
say, 9 volts before you start a gig.

regards Alex
