Hi all, went to London today and spent most part of the day along (and off)
Charing Cross. Just a few questions:

1. I noticed a lot of Tokai Ricks for 299 (100 pounds off currently) - they
looked pretty nice to be honest. Anyone have any idea if theyre any good?

2. The variaxes are now down to 499 pounds - any thoughts on whether theyll
drop lower?

3. Anyone been to the soundcontrol store in the basement of some big
musicshop along oxford St? (forgot the name) Its a massive place really -
and they let you try just about anything you want to. I tried a les paul on
a peavey classic 50, and an american strat on some small fender SS combo,
but a guy down the isle tried a PRS on a Mesa. There were also booths for
ashdown, crate, fender, and some others. There was even a lonesome Vox amp
lying somewhere. Plus a few electronics drum sets for ppl to try. Is the
shop there to stay? or is it just a temp promotion?

4. That line6 hd147 looks one sexy, capable head. Does it cook dinner as
well?

GGeek.

Which shop was that? A friend of mine is looking for one.

indeed, as far as i know its there to stay, and its great isnt it. Finally a
guitar shop where you have no time restrictions or pressure on you as you
try out equipment; i spent a good 20mins trying out various Boss effects
pedals (with heaphones on!) without a member of staff so much as coming near
me, jolly good fun it was too.

Certainly worth a cab fare home in the morning!

Been gigging very happily with mine and also recorded these tone examples:

it is a bit of a corporate megastore though. your best bet is to get in
there, try stuff out, find out what gear you want to buy, then go look
elsewhere for it to get a good price. ;-)

Or just bargain with them. With the floor rent in Oxford Street they may not
want to go too low compared to an out of town place, but if youre a regular
shopper there, or anywhere, you can often get better deals as time goes on.
