I find that the manufacturers tend not to fit top of the range pickups and
furniture to their cheaper models.

If I could get an Epi Les Paul with real Gibson pickups Id buy it, I
cant...

If I could get a Squier with US Fender pickups and switchgear and tuning
machines Id buy it, I cant...

Buying the items as aftermarket bits puts the price up around the same level
as buying the US made models, and believe me, there is a difference in the
noise the guitars make...

Dont worry about it, I dont think stock Gibson pickups are all that good
anyway. My Gibson pickups got changed to Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers at
Ł200ish the pair. Ouch!

Theyre a hell of a lot better than the muddy indistinct items that came on
my Epi (I sold it)

Am I alone in finding that Epiphones simply dont have the same
musicality as a good Gibson. Granted there are plenty of crappy
Gibsons, but I have NEVER picked up a modern Epi and found that it rang
like a bell. Always they seem to come up short, without exception in my
experience, and this goes beyond the pickups, which could be easily
changed. The wood just doesnt have the musicality and tone for me that
the occasional great Gibson has. To me the modern Epi guitars I have
tried are all as underwhelming as the bulk of Gibbo Les Pauls out there,
but that I do occasionally meet a great Gibson Les Paul, and that has
never happened for me when trying a modern Epiphone.

I have to say that recently I had an Epiphone SG through my hands and it
was an absolute peach! Way better than any modern Gibbo ones Ive tried. The
old adage yer get what yer pay for doesnt always prove true!
