What are peoples veiws on effect pedals NOT multi pedals and which is the
real classic in it field.
For example the Boss DD3 seems a favorite digital delay. And the Ce-2 the
chorus.
Whats a good flanger or phaser?
I know this is down to choice and model and were it was made. By that the
dod fx75b flanger usa made is much better than the chinesse 75c , in my
opinion.

HUUUUUUGE question!

The original MXR phasers are considered classic, especially the Phase
90, although there was also the subtler Phase 45 and multi-waveform
Phase 100. However, they have a distinctive sound... you may find that
the Electro-Harmonix Small Stone is more to your taste. Ibanez/Maxon
made clones of the Phase 90/100 (the PT909 and 999, I think) and theyre
very highly thought of. For more extreme retro phase sounds, the
Moogerfooger 12-Stage Phaser is fantastic.

For flangers, MXR is another good choice... their old flanger does the
Unchained sound. Electro Harmonixs Electric Mistress is another old
classic, and again, its totally different from the MXR pedal.

Then youve got the whole range of compact pedals that have come out
since... Boss are probably the most common, and while (IMO) a lot of
their stompboxes have an undeservedly glowing reputation, theyre always
worth a look. The same goes for DOD and Nobels. The modern equivalent of
Boss (with the addition of digital modelling) is probably Line 6, with
their Tonecore range. IIRC, they dont do a phaser, but the Liqua-Flange
is very good.

Incidentally, one of the best phaser pedals Ive ever tried was the Red
Witch Deluxe Moon Phaser... its not cheap, unfortunately.

Classics in other fields? Theres loads... Ibanez TS808, Vox Wah,
Univibe, Sola Tonebender, Crybaby, MXR Distortion+, MXR Dynacomp, Korg
G4, Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Face... any specific sounds you have in mind?

Boss always made good pedals , i cannot really knock any of them .
Besides Boss i recommend Electro Harmonix .
Those shiny aluminum cases really set them off . The screaming tree
was a favorite of mine as was the Memory Man , and i once had a Guild
distortion pedal that was like Sabbath in a box .

too right I have an electro harmonix memory man and nothing beats that sound
(apart from maybe a space echo)
I always think with pedals its about finding something unique, that will
give you a different sound set to everyone else

so boss do make good meat and potatoes pedals but for my money everyone else
has them and its not gonna make a sound you aven;t heard before

I also use a watkins shadow echo
and a mauestro rhythmn and sound (auto wah, distortion, tremelo, eq, sub
bass)

nothing beats the sounds I get out of them

I had one of those once - it was a two-replay head
version of the Copicat (about Ł30 instead of the
Copicats Ł48).

Mine was nicked in 1974...

I used to own a colorsound phaser in the late 70s and it was the best
phaser I ever owned I much prefered it to MXR or HM
