Hi folks,

Im looking to buy an electro-acoustic cut away. I have up to Ł450 to use.

Has anyone got any good advice please. I only really play to myself or jam
with my son. I have small hands, so could struggle a bit with a too wide a
neck.

I have two models in mind at the moment -

Aria Sandpiper SP-Std
Yamaha APX900

Looking forward to some useful comments

Cheers Tim

Yamaha. Simply a better guitar and generally better setup as bought. If
you had not listed these two, Yamaha APX would have been my suggestion
based on your requirement.

I bought an Ayers Dreadnought, electric acoustic with a cutaway a few years
back for about 450 including a semi-rigid case. Excellent value these
guitars, made in Vietnam by an Australian luthier. I got mine in Denmark
Stree, London, but have a shop around. The most important thing is to play
as many as you can! London Guitar Show is coming up at the end of the month
and the odd bargain can be had there - go on the Sunday and theyll offer
good discounts as they rarely want to take stock home again!

I know just what you mean. Last week I had a fat fellow in the front row of my
audience who talked constantly, and I realised I just wouldnt be able to
strangle
him :-)

(Sorry to got OT, but couldnt resist the bait)

Hi Tim,

I have a Washburn EA10 in (black with white binding though):
http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product id/8615/a/r/e/base
This model was famously the Nuno More Than Words guitar.

Anyway, it has a wonderful rich tone and as anyone here whod played
mine will contest, one of the most playable acoustic necks around.
More like an electric profile neck. It is however a rather large a
deep body easier to play seated than standing (not to mention only
having one strap end pin). It has a pretty good preamp and
surprisingly both 1.4 jack and XLR out. There are plenty of other
options in the range with various sized bodies and better preamps,
well worth checking out.

The EA20 (which I have) is the smaller bodied version. Its very
comfortable both seated and standing, although the shallowness of the
body (and pokier midrange frequencies as a result) mean its better as a
lead acoustic than a strummer.

Although yours does have a major fault in that its upside down ;)
