Normally used to overdrive the front end valve of a valve amp. Its
own distortion tends to be a bit fizzy and unconvincing. Its the
unconvincing nature of its natural distortion that has resulted
in companies like Fulltone producing boutique versions. These are
almost invariably electronically modified Tubescreamers to
try and improve the natural distortion of the box. If your
planning to use it with an AVT, which is essentially a tranny amp)
its unlikely to work well.

Probably better (and cheaper!) with a Boss Metal Zone or similar.

According to the info site I checked, it has 2 FX loops. Both
are parallel loops with a return pot on the front panel, so that
would limit it to time delay effects (chorus, phase, flange, reverb,
digital delay etc). If it were a series loop, you could add in
tremelo and possibly filter effects like wah. To use, set up your
fx (say chorus) with the desired speed and depth, and use the front
panel FX control on the AVT now becomes FX return. You may have to
adjust the levels on the back of the amp to make sure they match
your fx pedal and dont overload it. Usually, theres a small slide
switch or a level pot for setting this on the back somewhere.
DO NOT put a compressor in this loop (or any loop for that matter).
All it would do is make the amp very noisy. Compressors go between
your guitar and the amp.
