Not knowing how old you are and what your career has done so far makes it a
bit difficult.
You need to understand that no Post Pro studio will take anyone on unless
they have a proven track record from another studio. They like to take on
runners, pay them a pitance and work them until they pass out or make it
into transfer for training.
I figure youre more into composing than engineerring though so I guess
youre not ready to start making tea for engineers.
If youre interested in getting your compositions heard then you should
understand that the studios all have huge libraries of music. KPM is the
largest provider and they send out CDs every couple of weeks to all the post
pro houses. A friend of mine used to write for them but he got the job from
his management company so Im not sure about contacting them directly.
Anyway, they send out a brief and you fulfill it and send it back, they send
it back and say trim this... make that louder whatever. If they accept the
track you get Ł500 plus the royalties if/when its used.
They have a lot of people recieving their briefs so competition is pretty
fierce.
If you want an idea of the standards then check out

then click on John Pickup.
He just got a contract to write some score for Channel 5. My MySpace is
pretty poor, Im not realy into it but Johns Non Imperial March rules.
A friend of mine wants to get into the same field and started his own
company recently.

His site isnt finished yet but apparently will be in the next week or two.
Hes doing music for local dance/art companies in order to build a portfolio
and get work.
Hes got the right idea and I think that you could do well on a local level
as opposed to trying to go straight into swinging with the big dicks.
Regarding making commercial music for a local market, I have a bunch of
articles put away on an external drive about this but Im not sure where.
You can definitely find them easily at
